Yoga and Your Happiness

Some of you may be wondering where the term “fusion” comes into our daily workouts. It is a not only a focus but goal at DBS to concentrate on whole body wellness through exercise and nutrition. We have found that incorporating yoga movements into our daily “fusion” workouts allows the athlete to progress in their strength and endurance training in the safest manner. Additionally, we offer two yoga classes a week at 6:30 on Tuesday and Thursday nights. By practicing yoga you are able to take the lactic acid that builds up in your muscles from the rigors of your daily “fusion” class and get it moving through the blood and eventually into the liver for processing. Yoga is also beneficial as it helps strengthen the core, increasing flexibility and improving your balance. Setting Your Goals and Reaching Them

As we come upon the 2 year anniversary of Dane’s Body Shop it is important to look at where we started and where we want to go. No matter if you are a new comer or DBS veteran we all came from a certain ability level and place in life when we walked into the shop. Determination to come to the shop each day no matter what the weather, what happened at the office or school, or getting the kids dressed in the morning, proves you have the drive and now we need to give that drive a purpose. Each day we come in the gym we are practicing skills and movements for a purpose, to get better. What areas do you want to improve, what skills do you still struggle with, where do you see yourself physically, mentally and emotionally in the next 3, 6, 9 months to a year? We encourage you to let your coaches know your goals and ask for any help you need to set realistic and obtainable goals for this coming year.

There’s Something “Weird” Going On At Dane’s..

“Weird like Austin,” -we here at Dane’s would like to say.

In under two years, Dane’s Body Shop has made a significant mark on the idea of Fitness Life in Austin. Mixing Cross Training Fitness with Yoga and other longevity exercises has been the main objective at “The Shop” and it is consistently seen in our relationship with the local community that backs and supports us. We are passionate, knowledgable, weird and different…and people love that.

This DBS Community, on the morning of June 9th, 2012, came out to Camp Mabry for the Austin Fit Magazine’s FIT-TEST Challenge to support Team DBS. The Fit-Test was comprised of 10 events that tested an athletes power, strength, accuracy, speed and endurance. It was tough, but thanks to the badass DBS Community that showed up to support Team DBS, the team rallied together and took First Place in the Team Division! Coach Leann took 3rd in her devision and 6th overall! Coach Dane took 1st in his division and 2nd overall!

The mood was set when the Dane’s Body Shop crowd roared at every event. An overwhelming energy that struck fear in the hearts of other teams!! Thanks to you all, we had success as a community. Dane’s Body Shop works out weird, listens to weird music, rides weird bikes and brings their weird friends with them to workouts. We think it’s a beautiful thing!

Austin’s FITTEST Community! You Rock, And We LOVE You All!

What a great weekend we had! What awesome energy everyone in our Community brought to the Austin’s FIT-TEST Competition at Camp Mabry! If you’re in the Shop and ask one of the Coaches how they feel about what this weekend meant to them, they’ll more than likely well up a little and smile…A big proud smile full of happiness and pride. We are all proud. TEAM DBS did spectacular and the results are about to be official. We will post the official results as soon as Austin Fit Magazine has informed us.

Austin Fit Mag’s FITTEST is coming this weekend!! June 9th

Come support Dane’s Body Shop’s Team as they compete for the Fittest Team in Austin! Saturday, June 9th @ Camp Mabry. 9am start.

We have 10 participants on Team DBS that need your cheers and support! Also, Coach Leann Rominger and Dane Krager will be competing in the age 30-40 category for an opportunity to be named the “Fittest” person in Austin! There will be 10 events to compete in.

Events In Order:

  1. 6lb Med Ball Toss for distance
  2. Standing Broad Jump
  3. 40 yard Dash (*sponsored by Dane’s Body Shop)
  4. Agility Cone Drill for time
  5. Pull Ups – max amount without stopping
  6. Burpees – max amount in one minute
  7. Grip Strength test
  8. Ball Thown through Hoop – Best out of 5
  9. Interval Cone Run (ouch)
  10. 1 Mile Run for time

We are so glad we can be a part of such an awesome and growing group of healthy minded and physically active people. Great cooks it would seem, as well!
